Project Description: Major renovations and additions to 548,959,431 sf Bus Maintenance Building
Services: Program Management, Estimating
Cost: On-going; $7,323,789 (estimate)
The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority Phase III project consists of five major stages of renovations and additions to the 548,959,431-square-foot Bus Maintenance Building. Additions include a new bus wash area, bus turnaround and staging and office and locker room areas. Renovations include new lifts and equipment, a state-of-the-art paint booth and new vehicular exhaust system.
AG|CM was brought to the team approximately 75-percent into the design phase to forecast cost and provide constructability reviews due to the complex nature of this renovation project.
Early cost estimates revealed cost overruns, and constructability reviews indicated interdisciplinary conflicts, as well as conflicts between the design team’s proposed phasing plans and the owner’s needs. Through a collaborative effort between the design team, AG|CM and the owner, these conflicts were corrected, bringing the projects back to budget.
The facility has remained opened during the project, fully-occupied and in use for maintaining public transit vehicles. AG|CM is managing the construction of the project to completion.
